Renwood Sierra Series Zinfandel 2007

Posted in Reviews on September 3, 2010 by Wineoceros

Tasting Note
Remarkably light ruby colour leads to a refined, almost elegant nose of plum, new leather and sour cherry. Dry and quite fresh, with fine fruit and moderate tannins bringing it all into a very pleasing balance. This is not a fruit bomb, nor is it a shrinking violet. It’s a vibrant and refreshing Zinfandel that will reward 2-4 years in a cellar, or have it tonight with rare roast beef with grilled root vegetables. (VINTAGES panel, July 2010)
A Gold Medal winner at the 2009 New World Wine Competition.

Gabriel Meffre Cotes de Provence L’Aiguiere Rose 2009

Posted in Reviews on June 14, 2010 by Wineoceros

Provençal rosés are best enjoyed within two to three years of vintage. Made with Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, this 2009 rosé has a fine nose of raspberry, citrus, garrigue and mineral. Dry and very zippy, this is an excellent palate-refresher on the back patio after a hard afternoon of yardwork, or relax and enjoy it with grilled chicken breasts or freshwater fish.

RENWOOD “OLD VINE ZINFANDEL 2007

Posted in Reviews on June 14, 2010 by Wineoceros

WINEMAKER’S NOTES
The 2005 Old Vine Zinfandel is comprised of the best selection of Old Vine vineyard lots in the Shenandoah Valley, each adding its own nuance and complexity to the final blend. The 2005 Old Vine Zinfandel is brick red in color. The aromas are reminiscent of holiday spices, berry pie and cedar. The flavor has ripe fruit with a background of nutmeg and mace. The tannins are moderate and ripe. Aging in American Oak lends a note of vanilla and a hint of coffee bean to round out the mélange of flavors.
